Since Damien has been on the Listening Program I have noticed some outstanding changes. He is a more confident speaker and now doesn't hesitate to speak in front of the class or at school assemblies. Others have mentioned that his speaking is a lot more clear during these times. Damien's energy is more levelled - he no longer yearns to be in front of the TV once school is over and prefers to be outside on his bike, scooter, or soccer ball. This has been a great change!
His tolerance of noise is better also. He no longer worries about balloons popping or other loud noises which to me is a life-changing event and such a relief. Damien is very much into music now and has even spoken to me about joining the school choir next year. Although Damien's teacher hasn't noticed many changes in the classroom, at home I have noticed him having a more sensible attempt at spelling (when doing homework). He no longer rushes this part of the day and looks to see if a work 'looks right' and has adopted new strategies with multiple syllable words. Damien didn't do that before the program!
